New Garden

My father (Paul) came for a visit to help us set up a vegetable garden. He previously emailed us the design layout which included tomatoes, yellow squash, zucchini squash, corn, peas, cucumbers, and green peppers. The plans also include drip irrigation with timers for proper watering, landscape cloth, deer/rabbit fencing, and the design for the landscape timbers. Since Dave and I are barely able to keep plants watered and alive my Dad decided to make this as low maintenance as possible.

This first visit was just to spray the area and label the ground where the main garden is as well as start the peas on the fence.
Cora and her Grandfather used the shovel to layout the topsoil/compost dirt.
Cora was a big help.
Grandad gave her the seeds but she didn't want to put her hands in the dirt anymore so it was Luke's turn to help.
Grandad laid the seeds down and Luke pushed them into the ground.
It was a great visit from Grandad and we can't wait to get the garden started. I also had some help repotting some of my house plants that have been in the same pots for years ;-( the plants were very happy to move to their new pots!!!

On the next visit will come the real work - the planting of the vegetables!! The plants have lovingly been started in my Dad's green house and will be ready to be placed into the ground at the end of May. Thanks Dad!!!
