Cora started playing soccer this Fall and she seems to like it. Luke is very sad that he can't play too but we got them both soccer balls and we sometimes run around the backyard with both of them. I wish we had more time during the week but the week seems to fly by in a blink and before we know it we are at Friday soccer practice again and then the Sunday game.Cora's soccer clothes are a little big because they don't make much soccer stuff for 4 year olds.
Cora doesn't really understand the aggressive part of the game - to run faster then the people on the other team to the ball then to kick it into the goal. She understands how to chase after the ball. It is typical 4 year old soccer - clusters of kids running around after the ball.
The uniforms were handed to us as we arrived on the field - a little big but she was so happy to have "a number on my shirt" that I don't think she minded covering up her other shirt.
The coach is REALLY REALLY patient and a GREAT teacher. In between each quarter they have to tackle him and then he makes them point to the correct goal. When they are in the wrong place he picks them up and moves them. The kids laugh and really enjoy all aspects of the game.
There are no goalies so the score is somewhere around 20-25 if anyone kept score. The kids play alternating quarters of 8 minutes. The sitting on the team blanket is as popular as playing and the highlight seems to be the snacks at the end of the game. Lots of fun, great parents, laughing kids - what a great way to spend Sunday afternoon (in between football games, mowing the lawn, laundry, Dave's mountain biking, and my running that is...)!!
