Hiking to Cunningham Falls

This is our second hike to Cunningham Falls. During the first hike two summers ago we took the "easier trail" which was 1 mile total. We skipped last year because of Luke's broken leg. This year we took the "tougher" trail up and the "easy" one back for a total of 1.5 miles.
The trail was slightly steep and riddled with rocks but the kids enjoyed the log steps and were constantly off the path exploring rocks and fallen trees.
A fellow hiker offered to take a family picture of us. The kids enjoyed climbing up on this rock because you "can see sooooo far up here."
The hike was tougher then I imagine but Cora and Luke did great. Luke is a fast hiker and really wants to run. Dave says he has his "billy goat gene."
Once at the falls we played a little bit in the lower pools but the kids were not satisfied, so eventually we gave in and we all climbed up to the top, it was a 78 foot climb!! Cora did great on the way up. She is quite a little rock climber - with only 38 pounds to lift she scrambled up the rocks with ease!

Dave kept a watchful eye and with in arms reach of the kids on the way up and down.
The trip back down from the falls was a little tougher. Luke started to lose his patience and became grumpy. Cora was still full of energy so we practiced jogging ahead and then back to Luke and Daddy. Finally back to the car, we drove down to the lake, the kids swam around and we enjoyed a picnic lunch. They slept well that evening!! Another fun summer adventure!!
