Cunningham Falls

Our outing today was a trip to Cunningham Falls State Park, located in the Catoctin Mountains. It is known for its history and scenic beauty, as well as its 78-foot cascading waterfall. The Falls are located one half mile from the lake in the Houck Area via the Falls Trail.

We felt that Cora was ready for her first official hike, not sure if she would make it there and back we were eager to see how this adventure would go!!

Ready for the hike.
Cora did a good job on the hike.  She needed to stop twice on the way there - running most of it.

Catching up to Daddy (above) then resting with Mommy (below)!
Looking at the Falls!
"Ohhh, pretty water!"
Getting a quick drink before the "hike" back to the lake.

Luke talked to everyone he could the entire time we were on the hike.  Saying, "HI!!" to everyone we passed!! :-)  Cora asked for to carry a "bookbag" so we decided to let her try to carry one herself - it wasn't long that she said, "No thank you!"

The hike was a success - everyone had a good time, we went swimming in the lake afterward and then headed home for naps (where three are asleep right now - Dave, Cora, and Luke).  This was a nice preview of fun things to come with the kids!!
