Luke playing with "Hoppy" the frog/toad that frequents the backyard pools. Luke gets lots of enjoyment from these little guys before we make him release them into the neighbor's yard.
Cora and Luke spend many afternoons/evenings in the backyard in their bathing suits playing in the baby pools or on the water slide. Above Cora is pulling Luke around in the little wagon. I feel bad for Cora, when it is her turn - Luke is barely able to walk and her ride is not nearly as fun as when she pulls Luke. Below, the kids are doing some water color painting. Unfortunately, the way they use watercolors - it is a "one time use" only for those poor water infused paints.
Another day our arts & crafts project was to make an ocean. We used cardboard as the base, finger painted the blue ocean, glued on sand and sparkles (because the ocean and sand is sparkly), then glued on the sea shells that the kids found when they were on vacation at the Outer Banks. It was a multi-step project that took all day but the kids loved their finished products!
Lunch and dinner are often served on the back porch. Saves a lot of messy clean-up and allows mommy to relax when the kids are acting silly. These glasses straws are hard to keep clean but worth the trouble because it is always funny to watch them work to get the juice to their mouth!
These pictures from July are taken on many different days - through the heat of the summer. We try hard to make the kids be outside. Both Dave and I want our kids to be outside kids - lots of sunscreen for these two!!
