The Owen Family Circus Comes to Town

My sister Gwen, her husband Jay, and family (Andrew, and twins Molly & Landon) came for a visit in mid July. The cousins had a great time together and even though the temperature outside was hot the kids had a lot of fun cooling off!

Pictured below is the cast of characters: from left to right
boys: Andrew, Luke, and Landon
girls: Molly, and Cora
The weather was hot hot HOT and humid. The backyard was full of things for the kids to do and the typical schedule for the visit was wake up around 5-6am (thank you Molly and Landon) breakfast and then outside until 11am. Lunch. Naps from noon to 2-3pm. Snack and playing in the basement and then outside again until dinner.
Andrew was very patient with Luke! Luke's lack of proper communication skills (he is still a mush mouth that only a parent can interpret) make it frustrating to play with him. Especially with Cora around to dominate the conversation. But Andrew did a very nice job of trying to spend time with both of his cousins!
Andrew and Luke making "crazy hair."
The slide was a hit. Unfortunately, the slide seems to be on it's last leg. It was a generous hand-me-down given to us by friends of Dave after his two boys used it for a few years. I believe it has been in use for 6 summers!! But the top has trouble inflating and the pool at the bottom doesn't stay as full anymore. We are looking into a replacement, until then the kids were still able to safely use it and have fun!
Molly and Landon are twins who are almost two. Molly is fearless and into everything! Above she is climbing the slide and below she is adeptly using the bubble machine.
Landon is "Bambam." He likes to push all toys to their limit to see just how long it will be before he hurts himself or someone else.
The car was a source of fun and frustration. Five kids can't fit into the car so there seemed to always be someone standing alone crying as the car drove away. Also, the car is constantly "stalling." Due to the way that kids drive, "Stop/Start" "Stop/Start" "Stop/Start" it has caused some sort of short circuit that randomly occurs. It is a good and bad thing - bad because it drives the kids crazy; good because we can say, "the car is broken, everyone off and play somewhere else."
Molly and Landon LOVE the dog and the dog cage. They locked themselves inside more then once!
Some meals were inside to escape the heat but some were outside when there was a nice breeze. I was so happy watching everyone play and have fun together. I was happy to have my sister and her family circus come to visit. They are welcome anytime!
Looking forward to many more years of playing together!
