Cora's Birthday Weekend

Cora had a birthday weekend. She was spoiled and laughing from Friday night when Gigi, Grandad, and Andrew arrived to Sunday afternoon when she passed out on the couch.
Saturday morning she received her bike and fell in love. She rode it around the house and kept saying she has a bike just like daddy has. The bike is an Avigo girls 16" Wild Child. We went with the 16" bike based on her height, not her age. She is and probably will continue to be taller for her age. She did a good job riding the bike around the house and eventually outside, but she really needs to work on stopping instead of running into things or just falling over.
The kids spend much of Saturday in the little pools in the back yard. We lathered them up with sunscrean around 9am and they didn't stop until nap time and then again after naps playing until dark. They ran, jumped, splashed, laughed, blew bubbles, and had fun the entire day!

We opened more presents on Sunday morning before Cora's party so she would be able to actually look at what people were giving her. She loves all her gifts and walks around with them saying, "My cousin Andrew gave me this doll."
Cora's official party was at the Bounce Place from 9:30-11:30. This year I tried to invite kids that Cora wanted to have at her party instead of "my" friends and their kids. We invited her pre-school class, her friends from daycare, and a few other friends but their parents "lack of RSVP social etiquette" prevented us from knowing who was actually coming and the party ended up being smaller then I had hoped for. . . however Cora had a wonderful time and loved everyone who came.
Gigi and Molly playing in the car. The twins were not allowed on the equipment, you have to be 34" tall so they played with some of the smaller things. However, how could you expect them to be happy playing on the smaller equipment with all of the big stuff everywhere around them?!?!
Even Grandad got in on the fun!! Sliding down the slide. Running through the obstacle course. Playing tag with the grandkids. I am sure he was tired when he got home!!
Cora got to pick three games to play. One game was hide and seek in the dark with disco-like lights flashing (a hit with the big kids, a nightmare for the little kids). Another game was duck-duck goose. This was fun because Luke did a lot of running and chasing even when it wasn't his turn.
All the adults were good sports and participated in the activities.
The kids enjoyed playing with their parents and hiding from them during hide and seek. I was very tired by the end of the jump time - I am sure many of us could have joined the kids for a nap!
Cora loved her big chair. She ate her pizza lunch, cupcake, and opened presents from this chair. I thought that she would want to sit at the table with her friends but she LOVED her big chair!!
Max and Sam enjoying cupcake dessert.
Claire and Sophia with Nick in the background enjoying the end of the party.
Macy's second attempt at a cupcake, her first one ended up on the floor. . . icing down - of course!
Auntie Gwen and Molly hanging out.
Finally, after everyone had left to go home, the kids sat down to "watch a show." They didn't make it long and slept from about 6pm through the night until Monday morning.
Such a wonderful weekend. I can't wait for summer and more fun times!!! Thank you to my family for such a nice time! I appreciate everyone's efforts to make it to Cora's party and help make her weekend so special!!
