The Last Days of Summer (part 1)

The whole family went to Princess Anne, Maryland to visit my parents and sister's family.  We also were lucky enough to visit the Bono family who was also vacationing on Assateague Island about 30 minutes away.

We left Hagerstown Wednesday morning and arrived on Assateague Island by around 4pm.  We stopped for lunch and took a "break" for a two hour traffic delay (moving two miles in 90 minutes). Then had a wonderful dinner with The Bono family after playing in the ocean!!

The next day we went to Ocean City, Maryland.  The kids loves the beach but were scared of the big waves. . . Cora and Luke both were knocked down a couple of times before they gave up!  I was proud of them for trying.
Cora and Luke seemed to enjoy eating as one of the best parts of going to the beach - they don't usually get snacks unless we are doing something special - so as soon as we get there Cora starts asking!! :-?
It was an overcast day - which was nice because the temperatures were still in the high 80's but with the breeze it was very comfortable - we dug holes and made mounds for the kids to crawl all over - they loved it!!
Using suntan lotion - Luke received his first mohawk!!  The sand on his chest is from the large amounts of drool he seemed to be putting out recently - more teeth coming through I guess!
The kites were a favorite of Cora's.  She kept asking to go over to see them.  She sat in the sand watching them for almost an hour!!  The dragon kite was her favorite!!
To be continued. . .being back at work makes it tough to get longer posts in . . .

Beaches in those cold weather regions? Interesting. We'll be moving in a year and we've been talking a lot about ending up in the cold. Sigh. At least I see I can squeeze in a few beach days regardless.

The snacks made me laugh! Cuties you got there!
