YEAH!!! We finally made it to our first pumpkin patch of the 2011 Fall Season. We have been so busy that we haven't been able to get out - but FINALLY we were able to go to Reynolds Farm.
This is year four of visiting this pumpkin patch:
2008, 2009, 2010, and this year - 2011!!!
Unfortunately, the measurement was facing the sun so the kids had trouble standing still and looking at the camera with the sun in their eyes.
It is funny to see Cora remember things from last year. She said, "We have to take a picture on the horse again Mom."
The "BUMPY" slide is always a favorite along with the tricycle races! This year Dad didn't really have to ride with Luke or Cora to get them going. They knew what to do, the only help Luke needed was finding a tricycle that actually fit him.
Luke likes to run from place to place as fast as he can. He rarely stops to take anything in, he gets himself over excited and overwhelmed which is usually followed by a "fit" of frustration when he has to transition from one activity to another. We are working very hard on helping him to control his temper and to realize transitions are not always such a bad thing!
Dad loves to ride down the slide each year. This year he went with them the first time only, after that they did it themselves and barely looked to see where we were.
Cora and Luke's friends Atlee and Carrie were there playing too. Atlee and Cora are the same age and get along well!
Of course we had to plunk down our quarters to feed the goats. These must be some well fed goats!! Each kid got a chance to put food in the can and roll the can up to the goats at the top of the posts.
A hayride was fun and the kids enjoyed looking at all the pumpkins as we passed by. As you can see by the redness in their faces they were starting to get tired. All the running was starting to catch up with them.
The barrel ride was also a lot of fun. In previous years, Dad had to walk next to the barrel to let Cora know that they guys driving it weren't taking her away from us!! Not this year, she was too busy yelling at them to go faster (I think she may be ready for roller coasters).
Luke LOVED looking for pumpkins. . .or really . . . .he loved having us look for him as he hid under the pumpkin leaves. I don't know how he could stand crawling around on the ground among the rotting pumpkins, stink bugs, crickets, and field mice - but he loved it, dirt, grime and all!!! Telling him it was time to go made him very sad!
Hopefully next weekend we will make it to another patch - probably another favorite - Jumbo's or Summer's Farm in Frederick?!? :-)
