Happy Halloween!!!!
Trick or Treat is no longer on ONE night but on multiple nights as different neighborhoods assign different days for Trick or Treat.
Getting ready was fun as mommy and daddy tried to put all the "extra" pieces onto the kids (and each other).
Smithsburg Trick or Treat was on Thursday night. We met Stacey, Brock, and Macy around 6pm and started of on our adventure.
The weather was warm but quickly cooled off as the sun went down.
(Luke didn't quite get the idea of trick or treat at first - he was more interested in the garden rocks then the candy for a while.)
Starting the evening, all pieces of the costume were on the children - but by the end of the night Luke took off his Dragon hat. . .
. . .Cora changed shoes, didn't carry either of her two wands, no stickers on her face, no witch hat, and no pretty headband - but both kids did have a big smile on their faces all evening!!
Luke couldn't carry his Trick or Treat bag because he had on dragon gloves, so each time he went up to people instead of waiting for them to hand him candy - he decided to help himself!!
One time he even walked into someone's house past the person at the door to the candy bowl, took a piece of candy, and said a very loud and happy, "Thank You!" on the way out the door. The lady at the door couldn't stop laughing and said that would be the highlight of her Halloween and make for a great story at work!!
Friday night we went into Hagerstown with Ms. Amy, Mr. Craig, Carrie and Atlee.
The weather was much colder to start with and became almost unbearable by sundown.
But this didn't stop the kids from running from house to house and having a great time.
Carrie had to be put in-charge of the doorbell ringing because Cora liked to press the button about 5-10 times per house.
The kids did a great job of using their manners, stating, "Happy Halloween!" "Trick or Treat!" and "Thank You!" with enthusiasm.
Luke spend the evening crawling around and growling at everyone, running between houses, and being shuttled back and forth between mom and dad. . .by the end of the night he ended up telling us after about 45 minutes of walking, crawling, and running that he was, "DONE!" After all the excitement I am sure he was tired.
One more night of Trick or Treat down in Frederick and Carrie's Halloween themed birthday party until the costumes will become dress-up toys. The kids seem to enjoy their costumes and playing around in them so this year was a success!
