Dog Status

So far  . . . . he is doing ok.  He still has some bad habbits:

  • Tries to escape from inside to outside EVERY TIME we open the door.
  • Tries to escape the backyard by going over or under the fence - he can't be trusted outside.
  • Knocks the kids over because he doesn't know how big he is.
  • Nips the kids "playfully" but sometimes leaves marks  :-(  :-(
  • Cries when he goes into his kennel - for at least 15 minutes.
  • Avoids his kennel and can be very difficult to put in the kennel.
  • We still haven't seen the outside cat :-(
  • DOESN'T LISTEN AT ALL!!!  NO sit, stay, come, down, . . .
We will see - his first dog training class is June 1st.  Also, we are looking into an electric fence!

We did an electric fence at our old house and it only took one shock, although it was heartbreaking for ME. A friend has a shock collar that works great for training, but even thought I've subjected myself to the shock and it doesn't really hurt, I still would have a hard time zapping the pooch.

He'll learn. Just takes time...like a new baby!
