Adopting a dog

It is harder to adopt a dog then it is to have a child.  .   .

These are the steps so far:
  • 6-Page application (typed)
  • 12 clarification emails about the application (further explaining many answers - honesty doesn't seem to pay off when adopting a dog and ALL animal shots MUST have always been exactly up to date on all shots, medicines, etc. - NO excuses)
  • 3 personal references checked
  • 4 prior veterinarians used confirmed that animals were well cared for
  • 3 more clarification emails about why animals might have gone a few extra months between check ups
  • 2 phone calls to the rescue to discuss, schedule and explain about the home visit
  • 1 home visit to determine if our house has everything we said it should have (fenced yard, room to run, dog materials {bowls, blankets, crate, toys}, and who really lives in the house)
  • 1 trip to the pet store to purchase all needed materials, food, toys, collar, leash ($150 later)
  • 1 car ride to pick him up
  • 2 stops on the way home to put the excited dog back into the back seat of the car
Seeing our daughter's face when her "puppy" came home - PRICELESS!!  ;-)

Pictures will follow!!!
