This year the Easter activities started with an Egg Hunt with Ms. Amy (my friend). It was at her mother's church and couldn't have been nicer. We had such a nice time. The kids got tons of eggs, a basket full of stuff, arts and crafts, and lots of candy. Below Luke is doing the 3 and under hunt. To be fair, he should have probably been in the older kids egg hunt, he was definitely the largest kid there!
Before the hunt the kids got to make Bunny ears and face paint. For some reason, my kids do not really like to have their faces painted (neither do I which explains the minimalist makeup that I use).
Carrie and Cora are looking at their loot after the egg hunt. They were shaking with excitement. Below the kids got to dump their red dye (grenadine) from the center of their sharks into their Sprite... Cora didn't want any "blood" but Luke LOVED it!!
Easter morning we piled into the car and drove out to Hancock, MD to the Western Maryland Rail Trail to run, bike, and hike. First Dave went for an 8 mile bike ride while the kids and I did a 2 mile bike ride. Below is a picture of the kids little bike ride.
After the bike ride the kids and I did a one mile run - 1/2 mile out and back. We had to let Daddy change from his biking clothes to his running clothes and we needed to practice our running. Cora would have made it the whole way but we decided to wait for Luke. He got frustrated when he couldn't keep up with Cora and decided he needed to walk. It was only a short walk because Cora took off and he was off chasing after her.
After the kids run it was time for Mommy and Daddy to run. We ran a slow and steady 4 mile run pushing the 100+ pound jogging stroller with the kids, their entertainment, snacks, and drinks. It is tough to push that stroller, but much easier on the Rail Trail since it is paved then it is on the canal which is compact dirt/rocks with ruts. After all the activity we came home and had a wonderful dinner.
After dinner, we had to dye the Eggs for the Easter Bunny.
It was the standard color the eggs then decorate activity. Even though it is a routine activity carried out in thousands of homes across the US it is still fun and unique to each house!
Cora and Luke were cheesing for the camera!! They really do take good care of each other (when they aren't fighting ;-)
Cora wanted to add some hair and grabbed a Sharpie marker - that should make for a yummy egg!
It was one of those days that really make you smile when you look back on it. A great family day!
