Thanksgiving 2009 was spent at my parents house over on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. In addition to our family was Mom (aka Gigi), Dad (aka Grandad), sister Gwen, brother-in-law Jay, their three kids, big brother Andrew, and twins Molly and Landon.
We left Thursday morning (knowing we weren't brave enough to face the Wednesday traffic) and arrived around noon. The "Owen Circus" arrived shortly after and dinner was at 4pm.
Before dinner everyone watched football, played with toys, ate appetizers, and enjoyed holiday company and conversations.
Cora wanted to "hold the baby" all day so this is as close as I let her get on Thanksgiving.
Daddy and Luke. Luke LOVES to say "CHEESE."
Gwen and Andrew posing for a picture. (See the cell phone in her hand. . . Gwen left her cell phone at my house two weeks ago, I asked her if she wanted me to mail it to her - she said not to worry about it - she doesn't have time to answer it anyway ;-) I guess twins keep her busy!!)
Molly and Landon are deep in conversation about the current health care debate. . . their daddy is so proud of their knowledge of the current policical discussions!
Time for dinner - isn't the table beautiful?!? My mom spent a lot of time getting all the details of the meal ready, the appetizers/snacks, dinner, dessert, breakfasts, lunches and the other dinners. It was a wonderful weekend where many thoughts went into making us feel comfortable!
Dig in!!
The twins were nice enough to let everyone eat their dinner before they started to make noise and want to join us at the table.
Molly was hungry and ready to eat - see her "dinner" on the table?!?
A brief moment when we were both sitting down and had a second to smile for the camera.
After eating is the traditional after dinner nap!!
Many people around the house participated in the napping holiday tradition.
Luke was sleeping for the first part of dinner - he didn't want to take a nap until he fell asleep in someone's arms. . . so he ate dinner by himself. Because he had trouble waking up he wasn't interested in ANY of this food - he ended up eating a hotdog for dinner :-( he doesn't know what he missed!!!
After dinner my dad had some evening entertainment ready for us. . .FIREWORKS!!!
The noisey ones made the kids a little scared so they wanted to sit with someone who made them feel safe!
"WhoHoo!!! Do it again Grandad!!"
"YEAH GRANDAD!!!" What a wonderful show!!
Next thing on the agenda was pictures of all the kids - many pictures but not one with everyone happy. . .KIDS!!
Time for dessert!! Luke helped himself to someone's plate?!?!
We have a Turkey thief on the loose!!! Andrew nearly ate the whole bird after his dessert!!
It was a wonderful weekend and looking around reminded me of what I am thankful for!!
Happy Thanksgiving 2009!
